CSC Coaches Check List

Welcome coaches to Columbia Soccer Club!

Thanks you for volunteering your time and effort to be a coach at CSC.

Coach check list:

You volunteered to coach, now what? Follow these pointers to help make it easier.

1. Familiarize yourself with the league guidelines as well as the basic rules of the game.

2. Use the web sites listed below if you think you need sample practice plans or drills for practice.

3. Once you receive your roster contact your team immediately. Introduce yourself as the coach and if possible tell them what location, night and time you practice.

4. Establish how you intend to communicate with your team. Either by email or phone or both. Then also verify all the numbers and emails you have are correct and working and that everyone is getting your messages.

5. Plan on arriving to practices and games early. You should always be the first person there. This will allow you time to set up for any drills you have planned.

6. Plan on staying at practices and games late. After practice is the perfect time to communicate with parents of your team. Please be considerate and step off the pitch to the sidelines if another team is waiting to practice behind you.

7. Never leave a child unattended. If you can't wait for a child to be picked up make sure another adult can.

8. Keep the coach to player ratio 2:1, two players to one coach.

9. Lead by example. Show good sportsmanship and your team will too.

10. Lastly, have fun. If you are having fun chances are the players on your team will be as well.
